Multiple candidates (petitioners) challenged a common order dated 06.12.2023 of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT), Additional Bench, Ernakulam, which had dismissed their Original Applications arising from the Kerala PSC Sub Inspector (Trainee) recruitment notification (Cat. 388-390/2019). The petitioners had been excluded from the eligibility list of 6,338 candidates published on 29.07.2022, following a common preliminary examination conducted for 42 different posts under Rule 2A introduced on 11.08.2020. The KAT dismissed the applications on grounds including lack of locus standi (as petitioners had participated without protest), the hypothetical nature of contentions regarding unqualified candidates, and the sufficiency of the ranked list. The Kerala High Court, exercising its supervisory jurisdiction under Article 227 of the Constitution of India, found no manifest error, perversity, or flagrant violation of law in the KAT's order and declined to interfere with it.
