The applicant, Manjeetsinh Surendrasinh Chauhan, sought regular bail before the Gujarat High Court after being arrested on 13 December 2025 in connection with a cyber fraud case registered at Cyber Crime Police Station, Kachchh East Gandhidham. He was accused of providing seven bank accounts as 'mule accounts' for depositing and withdrawing proceeds of cyber fraud totalling Rs. 71,77,520/-, receiving a commission of Rs. 1,500 per Rs. 1 lakh, and transferring funds to absconding co-accused. The court found that 50 complaints had been received from across multiple states and union territories, that the applicant had actively misled the investigating agency by fabricating the identity of a person named 'Sonu Patel', and that co-accused were still at large. Treating the offence as a white-collar socio-economic crime warranting a stricter approach, and relying on Supreme Court precedents regarding economic offences, the court held that releasing the applicant on bail could hamper the ongoing investigation and lead to tampering with evidence.
